Gardaí appeal for witnesses to deadly Loughrea traffic accident

Gardaí in Loughrea are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic accident that left a man in his 30s dead this morning.

At approximately 6:30am today Gardaí and Emergency Services attended the scene of a single vehicle traffic accident on the Loughrea to Ballyglass Road near Kylemore Village.

The driver, a man in his 30s and the only occupant of the vehicle, was killed when his car collided with a wall.

He was pronounced dead at the scene and taken to Portiuncula Hospital in Ballinasloe where a post mortem examination will be carried out.

The road is currently closed and traffic diversions are in place while Garda forensic collision investigators and scenes of crime officers carry out a technical examination.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to contact them and are particularly appealing to anyone who travelled on the road in the early hours of this morning to come forward.
