Roadworks between Gort and Loughrea to begin next week

Roadworks on the R380, the old N66, between Gort and Loughrea are set to begin on Monday.

Motorists traveling in the area of Kilchreest should expect delays for the next month while work is underway.

The works are being done on a section road between Kilchreest National School and and the village of Kilchreest.

Works will involve planing out the existing road surface and laying down a new surface.

Other work being done includes road markings and drainage works.

A traffic management plan will be in place from Monday, January 14 while roadworks are taking place.

The contract to carry out these works was awarded to Lagan Asphalt Ltd.

Galway County Council has apologised for any inconvenience this causes for people.
