The funeral of Ashling Murphy will take place later this morning, and will be live streamed for the public to view, as her family requests privacy.

The funeral will take place at St. Brigid’s Church, Mountbolus at 11am, followed by her burial in Lowertown Cemetery.

The family of Ashling Murphy have requested privacy at her family home on Tuesday, where she has been reposing since Sunday, and family flowers only at the funeral.

The 23-year-old teacher was murdered last week while out for a run along the Grand Canal in Tullamore.

Gardaí have said that as large numbers of people are expected to attend today, officers will be managing traffic and parking in the area.

Public Health advice remains that persons unable to social distance or in crowded outdoor areas should wear appropriate face coverings.

All of the main teachers unions in the country are asking schools to observe a minute’s silence at 11am on Tuesday in memory of Ashling Murphy.
