The Minister for Education has confirmed that Lackagh National School has been approved for funding to provide additional accommodation at their school.
Seán Canney TD, who received the confirmation, says that the additional accommodation includes two new mainstream classrooms and a special education teacher room to cater for the current demand within the school.
“The school had applied for the funding earlier this year and I have been making representations to the Minister on behalf of the school on an ongoing basis since,” the East Galway TD said.
Deputy Canney said that Lackagh is a growing community and the demands on the school are growing all the time and the additional accommodation is essential in the delivery of education in modern facilities.
“I commend the School Principal, Board of Management, Staff and Parents for their great efforts in having this project approved for Lackagh community.
“I look forward to working with the school in the delivery of the additional educational facilities for Lackagh”.
