More free electronic waste collections in county towns

More free electronic waste collections will take place across Galway County in the coming weeks.

The County Council and WEEE Ireland held the first in a series of waste collections on Saturday in Oughterard.

Further collections will take place in Loughrea, Mountbellew, Maam Cross, and Gort over the next four weeks.

This is an opportunity for county householder to get free recycling of anything with a plug or battery.

Any household waste electrical items, batteries, or energy saving lightbulbs will be accepted.

This extends to electronic waste of any size, whether it is a phone or a fridge.

The collections will take place from 10am – 4pm over the next four Saturday at each location.

  • April 23 – Loughrea – Station Road car park
  • April 30 – Mountbellew – Mountbellew-Moylough GAA pitch
  • May 7 – Maam Cross – The Mart
  • May 14 – Gort – Co-Op Mart
