Met Eireann issues potato blight warning

As if one plague weren’t bad enough, Met Eirean has put out an environmental warning for the potential spread of potato blight over the weekend.

The warning, issued at 11pm on Wednesday, states that “Weather conditions conducive to the spread of potato blight will occur this weekend.”

The environmental warning given by Met Eireann covers all of Ireland.

Those conditions mentioned above are most miserable one, with overcast skies and rain forecast for this weekend.

Friday and Saturday will be mostly dry, but don’t expect to see a great deal of sunshine.

Things will take a turn for the worse on Sunday, when persistent widespread rain is being forecast throughout the day.

Temperatures will hover in the mid-teens for most of the weekend, but rise to highs of 19 degrees on Sunday.
