Now the holiday season is well and truly over, it’s time to get rid of the Christmas Tree before it starts dying and making a mess of the place.

Galway County Council is making this easier by accepting household Christmas trees for free recycling this week at 14 towns and villages.

The locations where county householders can drop off their Christmas Tree are:

  • Athenry – Car park beside Kenny Park
  • Ballinasloe – Canal Drive
  • Clifden – Beach Road
  • An Cheathrú Rua – Halla Éinne
  • Gort – Council Yard, George’s Street
  • Loughrea – Fairgreen, Courthouse Road
  • Mountbellew – Black Quarry, Ballinasloe Road
  • Milltown – Council Yard
  • Oughterard – Car park
  • Moycullen – Behind bringbanks, Mountain Road
  • Portumna – Beside bringbanks, Castle Avenue
