Elderly man hospitalised after Knocknacarra traffic accident

An elderly man was taken to hospital with serious injuries after being struck by a car yesterday in road traffic accident in Knocknacarra.

Gardaí were called to the scene of a serious traffic accident on Monday involving a pedestrian and a car on the Shangort road at approximately 5:20pm.

The pedestrian, a man in his 80s, was taken to University Hospital Galway with serious injuries.

The road was closed for a time yesterday for a forensic examination but has since reopened.

Salthill Gardaí are appealing for anyone with information, particularly any road users who may have camera footage who were travelling in the area at the time, to come forward.
