Expansion plans for Craughwell National School move forward

Construction work on extending and completely refurbishing Craughwell National School is expected to start in the second half of next year.

Plans are progressing for the development of a two storey extension of the national school, which will contain eight new classrooms.

Galway East TD Ciaran Cannon said that he has been informed by Minister with responsibility for the OPW Patrick Donovan TD that tenders have been invited for the project.

They are expected back by February 19, and it is hoped that construction work will begin in the third quarter of 2021.

The project will also involve a complete refurbishment of the existing school building.

“There’s no going back now,” Ciaran Cannon said, adding “This is very positive news for a great school community.”
