Galway teachers with pupils who take part in the annual Texaco Children’s Art Competition are reminded that the closing date for receiving entries this year is Monday, 28 February.
Last year over 330 pupils from schools across Co. Galway submitted entries to the competition, with five Galway students winning top prizes.
The students were Jessie Colleran from Ardscoil Mhuire in Ballinasloe; Patrick O’Donnell from Coláiste Ghobnait in Inisheer; Luke Iwasaki from Educate Together Secondary School in Morrough; Abby Finnegan from St. Joseph’s National School in Kinvara and Nicole Spain from Mullagh National School, Loughrea.
The Galway students were all winners of Special Merit Awards for artworks which Final Adjudicator Professor Declan McGonagle described as showing “high levels of skill and imagination”.
