Garda operation targeting anti-social behaviour on trains

Gardaí are conducting high visibility patrols of Galway intercity rail services today as part of an operation against anti-social behaviour.

Operation Twin Tracks is a day of action targeting anti-social behaviour on the DART, Luas, and intercity rail services.

As part of this Gardaí are patrolling eight intercity routes today in partnership with Irish Rail.

The Galway Divisional route incorporates Galway City, Oranmore, Athenry, Attymon, Woodlawn, Ballinsloe and South from Athenry, Craigwell, Ardrahan and Gort.

High visibility patrolling will operate between the hours of 3pm and 11pm on rail services in Galway and elsewhere today.

The focus is on pro engagement and a high level of visibility on the rail networks and at train stations nationwide.

A crime prevention stand will also be set up at Ceannt Station from 3pm to 8pm today, staffed Divisional Crime Prevention Officers assisted by Community Policing Units/Uniform members of An Garda Síochána.
