Cannabis worth over €40,000 seized on its way to Galway

Cannabis packages with an estimated street value of more than €40,000 were seized en route to Galway this week.

Officers with the Revenue Commissioners seized 2kg of cannabis with an estimated street value of €44,000 at Shannon Airport on Tuesday.

The illegal drugs were discovered in 4 different packages in a freight consignment that originated in Milan, Italy.

All of the packages were destined for an address in Galway, and investigations are ongoing.
