Gardaí are investigating the hijacking of a taxi and the assault of a taxi driver in Barna over the weekend.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday morning at a car park in Barna, at approximately 1.30am.
The male passenger of the taxi assaulted the driver of the car, causing serious but non-life threatening injuries.
After the attack, the passenger stole the car and drove away from the scene.
The driver of the car received medical attention following the incident.
Investigations are ongoing at this time.
