There are 18 patients being treated for COVID-19 in Galway’s hospitals in the latest figures from the HSE.
As of Monday evening there were 12 confirmed cases at UHG, and six more at Portiuncula Hospital in Ballinasloe.
Of these patients five were in Intensive Care at UHG, one patient at Portiuncula is in critical condition.
There are a further three suspected cases at University Hospital Galway, for whom test results were awaited.
Nationwide there were 494 COVID-19 patients hospitalised in Ireland, of whom 115 are in the ICU.
Galway reported a further 40 new cases yesterday, out of 687 throughout the country.
