There have been 47 further deaths related to COVID-19 reported by health officials today, along with 901 new confirmed cases.

Galway reports 43 new cases today, the third highest level in the country. There have been 796 cases in Galway over the past two weeks, and the 14-day incidence rate is now 308.5 per 100,000 people.

Of the deaths notified today, 44 were in February, one occurred in January, and the last was in December.

These deaths were in people aged from 51 to 99 years old, and the median age of those who died was 81.

There were 771 people hospitalised with COVID-19 in Ireland as of this afternoon, of whom 151 were in Intensive Care.

There have now been a total of 4,082 COVID-19 related deaths in the country, out of 212,647 cases since the start of the pandemic.
