Health officials have reported 16,428 additional cases of COVID-19 in the Republic this evening – the highest number reported in one day since the start of the pandemic.
As of 8am today, 568 people with the disease are in hospitals nationally, of whom 93 are in intensive care units.
There has been a total of 5,912 deaths related to COVID-19 notified in Ireland, including 22 deaths notified since last Wednesday.
In the latest HSE data taken yesterday evening, there were 19 confirmed cases at UHG and five cases at Portiuncula Hospital.
Two of the cases at both UHG and Portiuncula Hospital were in intensive care units.
