Aran Biomedical has announced today that it will create 150 new high skilled jobs over the next three years in An Spidéal.

The medical manufacturer, which has been based in Connemara for 13 years, currently employs 120 people in the village.

The company is also planning to treble its manufacturing capacity with a new facility in An Spidéal, and it is hoped that this will be fully completed by mid-2025.

Aran Biomedical specialises in the custom design, development and manufacturing of medical implants and the new roles will be in Production, Engineering, Quality and Supply Chain Management.

Minister Catherine Martin said that she is delighted with this morning’s announcement.

“I would like to congratulate Peter Mulrooney and the entire staff there on the news which will see the company continue to prosper whilst providing valuable sustainable employment in the Galway Gaeltacht,” said Minister Martin.

“If any evidence were required for the case to support our rural areas and the innovation and success of Aran Biomedical and Údarás na Gaeltachta are the proof of what can be achieved.”
