Fr Burke road in the city will be closing daily for roadworks starting from next week.

Galway city council has ordered a road closure from 8am to 6pm to enable roadworks being carried out by Irish Water.

The closure will affect Fr Burke road from the junction with Grattan Road to the junction with St. Ignatius Terrace.

It will be in effect for twelve days from Monday, July 22 to Friday, August 2 inclusive.

An alternative route is available via St. Ignatius Terrace and Fairhill Road Lower and vice-versa.

Irish Water are laying new water distribution mains in the Claddagh throughout the summer.

More road closures will follow further along Fr Burke Road and on School Avenue throughout August to enable this programme of works by Irish Water.

Local access will be maintained at all times and advance diversion signage will be in place before work begins.
