Search for missing Inis Oírr woman ends after body recovered

The search for an Inis Oírr woman reported missing yesterday (21/3) has been stood down after the body of woman was found off the coast.

The 70 year old woman was reported missing from her home on the Aran Islands yesterday afternoon.

The Aran Islands Lifeboat, Doolin Coast Guard unit, and a Coast Guard helicopter carried out a search of the area.

She was spotted in the water roughly a mile off the coast by the helicopter, and her body was recovered by the RNLI and brought ashore at Rossaveal.
