Scoil Togala Mhuire primary school of Kiltullagh, Athenry has been granted planning approval to build a classroom extension.

The Board of Management of the primary school applied for permission for a standalone classroom building to the rear of the school.

The total floor space of the extension will be 85sqm including a covered walkway to the main building.

“It is a condition of funding from the department of education that the extension be constructed as a standalone building”, the application stated.

The existing Scoil Togala Mhuire building has five classrooms and several support rooms, and employs 12 full and part time staff.

Planning permission was awarded for the school extension by Galway County Council with six conditions attached.
