The Amenity Grants Scheme 2019 has awarded funding to 109 Residents Associations in Galway city.

The city council approved the 2019 amenity grants scheme, which awarded €25,775 worth of grants to residents associations, at its latest monthly meeting.

The amenity grants scheme provides funding for Resident Associations, Community Gardens and Allotment Schemes which wish to undertake projects that improve the environment of their local area.

It covers minor works like the purchase of small garden equipment, litter pickers, estate name stones, repair works and litter clean-ups.

The scheme can award grants of up to €350 based on the number of houses in the residents association.

Groups of up to 30 houses can receive €150, where there are 30 to 50 houses €200 is available, larger associations of 50-150 houses are eligible for €250, and the largest grant of €350 is open to areas from 150 houses and upwards.

Community Gardens and Allotments are eligible for grants of €150.
