Almost 1,000 homes without electricity in Galway

Just under 1,000 homes and businesses across Galway are without electricity this afternoon due to multiple power outages.

The ESB is still dealing with nationwide electricity outages caused by Storm Ciara this weekend.

A status yellow wind warning remains in force today with winds gusting up to 110km/hr, possibly even higher according to Met Eireann.

Multiple outages in Galway have been repaired since this morning but many more have cropped up since, particularly in the area between Atenry and Claregalway.

On Inis Meain 25 premises remain without power after a fault in Carraroe this morning.

In Curra there are 114 homes without electricity, along with another 169 at Ballycrossaun, Killimor.

Six separate power outages in the Athenry area have left 466 homes and businesses without electricity.

And a final two outages in the Claregalway area are affecting 167 premises.
