Aldi to stock food by Loughrea family run-business beginning next year

A family-run business from Loughrea will see its food on the shelves of 133 Aldi stores across the country from January 2019, after being selected in the recent Grow with Aldi Programme.

Nigel & Magaly Murray from Gran Grans were one of  38 producers that won a place on the programme, and its product Lemon Marmalade will now become core line Aldi listed products.

The food producers, located in Kilchreest, Loughrea, use only natural ingredients in its products, with no preservatives nor additives – and uses traditional recipes.

Their range also includes Gluten Free products.

Developed in partnership with Bord Bia, Grow with Aldi has been designed to help small to medium Irish food and drink businesses secure a retail listing with a national retailer.

Participants receive tailored mentoring and access to bespoke workshops with Aldi buyers and Bord Bia technical experts, teaching them the skills to help grow and develop their products and business.

Aldi is investing €500,000 in the programme this year.

A total of 71 new Irish products, produced by 38 Irish suppliers from across the country were selected by Aldi.

The five of the successful products will now become core line Aldi listed products, winning a contract to be sold in Aldi’s Irish stores year-round.

The five winning producers are:

  • Ballyhoura Apple Farm (Limerick) – Pure Raw Apple Cider Vinegar
  • Rebel Chilli (Cork) – Red Rebel Chilli
  • Gran Grans (Galway) – Lemon Marmalade
  • Velo Coffee (Cork) – Whole Bean & Ground Coffee
  • Lullaby Milk (Cork) – Lullaby Milk
