Galway Daily news Calls for upgrades to Tuam roundabouts

East Galway TD Seán Canney has called on the IDA to step up their efforts to locate more industry in Tuam.

The Independent TD said the announcement of 60 job losses in Tuam should be a reality check, and demonstrates the need to expand the employment base of the town.

“I have spoken to the Tánaiste and Minister for Jobs and Enterprise, Leo Varadkar about the Valeo announcement. He has confirmed that the Valeo facility in Tuam is safe,” said Deputy Canney.

He added that Tuam has spare capacity in sewerage and water facilities.

“It has strong broadband and is connected to all the major cities like Dublin, Limerick and Galway by motorway,” he said. “We have a great workforce pool.”

“It is important that the IDA concentrates on marketing the IDA vacant site in an effort to attract additional employment.

“Tuam has the potential to expand and now is the time for the IDA to concentrate their focus on Tuam”.
