Galway girl Chloe Winters has been crowned winner of Lidl’s See Our Bees photography competition which received over 300 entries from across the country.

The 23-year-old from Ballinasloe was named the overall winner in the competition and will be awarded €1,000 in Lidl vouchers.

Amy Keating (18) was named the regional winner for Galway, and will receive €100 in vouchers for Lidl.

The competition was launched after Lidl Ireland partnered with Gaisce to help increase biodiversity awareness across the island of Ireland.

The contest encouraged blossoming photographers to submit their best photographs of bees.

Bees are dying in Ireland due to a lack of food and places for them to nest safely.

Declining pollinators such as bees and butterflies are essential to produce food, as they transfer pollen, aiding in the fertilization of plants and flowers, producing seeds, ensuring a new generation of greenery is produced every day.
