Weather warnings for snow, ice and heavy winds issued for Galway

Two status yellow weather warnings have been issued for by Met Eireann, with snow, ice, and heavy winds expected in Galway over the next two days.

A Status Yellow weather warning for snow and ice is in effect for the west coast today.

Wintry showers are forecast today and overnight with falls of hail, sleet and snow.

Met Eireann is also warning of icy stretches and accumulations of snow in some areas until 7am on Friday.

A second weather warning for heavy winds will come into force shortly after this expires, lasting from 11am to 11pm on Friday.

North to northwest winds will strengthen on Friday, gusting up to 100km/hr with a slight risk of coastal flooding.

Both weather warnings apply to counties Donegal, Galway, Leitrim, Mayo and Sligo along the west of Ireland.
