Met Éireann’s status yellow weather warning has been lifted this morning, as the heavy rain which flooded parts of the country last night makes way for a dry and bright Sunday.

But this afternoon’s sunshine will be short-lived, with more heavy downpours expected tonight, along with the possibility of thunderstorms.

The rain will move northwards as the night goes on, and it will become clear by Monday morning.

Lowest temperatures tonight will be between 9 and 11 degrees with moderate to fresh southeast winds.

Met Éireann say Monday will begin with sunny spells in most parts of the county, but showery rain will spread as the day goes on with heavy falls at times.

Highest temperatures of 17 to 21 degrees are forecast for tomorrow in fresh southeast winds, remaining strong near some coasts.
