Weather warning issued for severe frost and ice in Galway

A Status Yellow weather warning for extremely icy conditions and widespread frost has been issued for Galway by Met Eireann today, as temperatures are expected to plummet tonight.

The Low Temperature/Ice warning has been issued for all of for Connacht, along with counties Cavan, Monaghan, Donegal, Longford and Clare.

Temperatures could drop below -5 degrees in places, and “widespread severe frost” is forecast.

“Icy patches may form on untreated surfaces. Freezing temperatures will persist well into the day on Wednesday,” Met Eireann cautions.

The alert will be in place from 6pm this evening until 10am on Wednesday morning.
