Galway is under a further status yellow weather warning for heavy rain today, following right on the heels of an earlier thunderstorm alert.
“Further heavy showers or longer spells of rain may lead to spot flooding in places,” Met Eireann has warned.
The weather warning will be in place throughout the day for Galway and Mayo, until midnight tonight.
Yesterday, Met Eireann has issued a status yellow alert for thunderstorms and downpours across all of Connacht and Munster.
That was expected to last until 6pm this evening, but has been cancelled for most counties, and replaced with this rain warning in Galway.
Conditions in Galway will remain poor heading into Sunday, with further rain expected tomorrow morning, but clearing up aside from scattered showers as the day progresses.
Monday will start off mostly dry and overcast, but heavy rain will develop in the evening, lasting into Tuesday morning.
