A status yellow weather warning for wind will come into effect tomorrow, Sunday, with severe gusts possible in parts of the West.

The warning begins at 6am tomorrow, and will remain in place throughout the day until 6pm.

Met Éireann said that it will be very windy with strong to gale force southerly winds veering southwesterly.

There is also a risk of coastal flooding around high tide and more severe gusts are possible for a time.

The Valentines’ Day weather warning, which starts less than 24 hours after the current warning is lifted, was issued for Galway and fourteen other counties.

The current wind warning in place will be lifted at 9am this morning.
