Galway daily news galway Weather warning for heavy rain in effect

Many will be glad to see the back of February after what has been an unpleasant month weather-wise for most of the country.

And while the miserable weather looks set to continue into March, a brief spell of high pressure on Tuesday will bring some sunshine before the rain returns on Wednesday.

But on Sunday afternoon, windy and rainy conditions are forecast by Met Éireann, ahead of what will be another week of mostly unpleasant weather in Galway.

Outbreaks of rain will continue into Sunday night, but it will clear eastwards, followed by clear spells and scattered showers.

It will be quite windy early in the night with fresh to strong southerly winds, but these will ease by Monday morning.

A mostly cloudy start to March is in store for Galway on Tuesday, with further outbreaks of rain forecast. Sunny spells and isolated showers will follow, with high temperatures of 7 or 8 degrees.

High pressure will build on Monday night, bringing cold, dry and calm conditions across Ireland. There will be frost and icy patches as temperatures fall to between -3 and 0 degrees.

Tuesday will start bright, cold and frosty, with long spells of sunshine continuing for much of the day.

Winds will be light and variable and afternoon temperatures will range between 7 and 9 degrees.
