Kilkerrin United

Kilkerrin United travelled to Boyle on Saturday night to take on one of the top sides in the Roscommon & District League Premier Division.

Far from being overpowered by the hosts, Kilkerrin started the brighter of the teams and took the lead in under 5 minutes as Aidan Kitt swept home a low Keith Mahon cross from close range.

Boyle levelled the game before half time but on 55 minutes Aidan Kitt restored Kilkerrin’s lead when he finished a Damian Mahon through ball to the net. Boyle piled on the pressure thereafter and equalised ten minutes later.

The hosts pushed hard for a winner but Kilkerrin defended well to earn a valuable point. Next up is a home tie with Shiven Rovers on Friday at 8pm.

Hard luck to our U14 boys who were luckless in losing out 2-1 to Ballinagare in the RDYSL Division Two Cup Final. Despite going behind, Ronan Mullin equalised for a Kilkerrin team who came close to taking the lead on a number of occasions.

Unfortunately, a late penalty proved decisive as Ballinagare emerged victorious.

MWGL Cup Finals take place this Saturday (13th) at Shiven Rovers Grounds. In the U14 Cup Final Kilkerrin United face Castlrea Celtic at 10:30am. At 11:45am the U10 Cup Final sees Kilkerrin United play Glen Celtic. At 12:45pm the U12 girls play CP Ajax in their Cup Final.

On Sunday, Kilkerrin United U11 boys play Ballinagare FC in the U11 Shield Final at the RDFL Grounds, Lecarrow at 4:30pm. Best of luck to all teams.

Congratulations to Kilkerrin-Clonberne senior ladies football team who retained the County Title with a comprehensive win over Corofin. Congratulations also to Enda Divilly & Niamh Haslem on the birth and baptism of baby Tadhg.
