Kilconieron GAA Club to receive €36,000 for new walkway

Kilconieron GAA Club will receive €36,000 for for the development of a new walkway at their facilities, it has been announced.

The new walkway will compliment the new AstroTurf facility which was constructed last year.

Gaway East TD Ciaran Cannon welcomed the funding, saying that it will be an important support in enhancing their facilities and will be of immense benefit to all the groups and organisations that utilise Kilconieron’s GAA pitch.

“Now, more than ever before, we need to support our local sporting clubs and facilities and while local pitches have temporarily fallen silent, an investment like this will ensure that when life returns to normal, our sports clubs can take up where they left off, said Minister Cannon.

The Fine Gael TD congratulated Kilconieron GAA Club and their hardworking fundraising committee on their superb work.

“They are developing a community sports facility which will serve generations to come,” he said.

“Rural communities across our country are ambitious to develop the very best of sports facilities for young and old.

“The facilities being developed at Kilconieron GAA Club are a perfect example of what’s possible when these communities are supported by government.

“That’s why in the aftermath of this crisis, we need to continue funding our national sports capital programme”.
