Abbeyknockmoy Handball

Abbeyknockmoy Handball Club set the world ablaze at the recent World Championship coming back with a sensational collection of medals. 

The Galway club won 10 gold medals, three silver and one bronze at the 2018 championships held in Minneapolis, USA between August 9th and 19th.

Emma Kinane won four gold medals in the under 13 category.  And not to be undone, Gavin Kelly brought home the same amount of first places at under 11.

Mikey Kelly delivered three medals at under 15 (one gold, two silver); Jamie Kelly collected two medals at under 23 (one gold, one bronze); and Nathan Kelly brought home a silver medal at under 17 level.

It has been a bumper year for the club with five national titles won between Kinane (2) and Mikey Kelly (3).  They also were successful in the Feile Division one competition and there has been a complete refurbishment of the alley including a new floor.

This has been quite a remarkable achievement for one club!

Abbeyknockmoy Handball club are openly inviting supports and well wishers to join them for an evening of celebration on Saturday, 1st September.  This will take place at the handball club and they hope everyone will join them.

They will begin with a tour of the parish at 7pm and meet back at the club at 8pm to officially congratulate the team.
