A man in his early 20s has been taken to University Hospital Galway after a serious assault in the city centre last night.
Gardaí and emergency services attended the incident at Prospect Hill near TK Maxx, just off Eyre Square, in the early hours of this morning.
The young man suffered serious but not life-threatening injuries in the assault.
So far no arrests have been made as investigations continue.
