A woman in her 80s is in critical condition after being hit by a car in Ballinrobe, Co. Mayo on Thursday afternoon.
GardaĆ are appealing for witnesses following a serious injury road traffic collision that occurred at Glebe Street, Ballinrobe.
Emergency services attended the scene of a collision involving a car and a pedestrian at approximately 4:20pm on Thursday.
The pedestrian, a woman in her 80s, was conveyed from the scene to Mayo General Hospital, Castlebar for treatment of serious injuries, and remains in a critical condition.
No other injuries were reported at the time. The road is currently closed to allow for a technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators.
GardaĆ are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward.
Road users who may have camera footage, including dash-cam footage and were travelling in the area of the N84 / Glebe Street, Ballinrobe, Co. Mayo between 3.50pm and 4.50pm on Thursday 20th August, 2026 are asked to make this available to investigating GardaĆ.
