Woman (70s) in serious condition after being hit by car

A woman in her 70s has been seriously injured after being struck by a car on the N59 in Dangan on Monday.

The collision occurred at approximately 4:50pm on Monday, when a collided with a pedestrian on the Galway to Moycullen Road.

The female pedestrian (70s) was taken to University Hospital Galway where her condition is described as serious.

There have been no other injuries reported in connection with this collision, Gardaí have said.

A technical examination of the scene has been completed by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and the road has since reopened.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses who may have seen this incident to come forward.

Any road users who were in the vicinity of the N59 at Dangan, Co. Galway between 4.30pm and 5pm yesterday 19th December 2022, and who may have camera footage (including dash cam) is asked to make this available to Gardaí.
