Water outages in multiple towns due to serious burst water main

Galway Daily news Water outages in multiple north Galway areas

People living in multiple towns and areas to the west and south of Galway City may experience water outages today due to a serious burst mains.

There has been a very bad breakage to a mains pipe on the R339 Galway to Monivea Road.

This is causing water outages in Carnmore, Athenry, Oranmore, Clarinbridge, Kilcolgan and surrounding areas.

The road will be closed at Carnmore Cross, and the site of the burst pipe at An Carun, while repairs take place.

Repair works are scheduled to continue until 10pm on Wednesday night. Local access will be maintained.

Assuming repairs are completed today, it can take 2-3 hours after this point before people’s full water supply is restored.

Updates can be found on Irish Water’s supply and service website page.
