Met Éireann issues weather warning for Galway for snow

Met Éireann has issued a status yellow weather warning, with snow and ice forecast across many parts of the country over the weekend.

The warning comes into effect tonight (Saturday) at 11pm and will remain in place until Monday morning.

The weather forecasters say scattered thundery showers of hail, sleet and snow are expected during the period.

There will be poor visibility, with slippery and icy conditions at times.

Galway will be very windy at this afternoon in fresh to strong and gusty westerly winds, but this will ease later.

Met Éireann say that showers will occur and that there’s a risk of hail.

Tomorrow, Sunday, is forecast to be a cold and raw day with widespread and frequent showers accompanied by fresh to strong and gusty winds reaching gale force along the coast.

Many of the showers will be heavy and wintry in nature with a mix of rain, hail, sleet and snow and scattered thunderstorms.
