Snow has caused treacherous conditions on the N59 between Moycullen and Clifden this afternoon.
The route is almost impassable at Ballynahinch just west of Recess and Gardaí have advised motorists to avoid this stretch if possible.
Elsewhere in Galway, Gardaí in Loughrea have reported snow on a number of routes.
Motorists are also being urged to be extra careful on Furnace Road (R336) in Camus due to snow.
AA Roadwatch has reminded those making essential journeys today to allow extra time for essential travel, and drive at a reduced speed in affected areas.
