Galway Daily news Call for report into delays to Martin Roundabout conversion

Works on converting the Martin Roundabout to a signalised junction are due to get underway next week.

The work will convert the existing Martin roundabout to a 4-arm traffic light controlled junction, along with other upgrades.

These will include the provision of cycle lanes, bus priority measures, footpaths and associated landscaping.

Work on the conversion will start next Monday, January 24, and the construction is expected to take six months to complete.

There will be significant traffic management on the scheme, which will be performed in phases.

Galway City Council has said that traffic delays are expected during the project, but that these will be minimised as much as possible.

The redevelopment of the Martin Junction is backed by €2.7 million in funding from the Urban Regeneration Fund.

Updated traffic-management information, will be published on the Galway City Council website and social media.
