Galway Daily transport Bus lane reopens on Forster Street in the city

Galway City Council has reinstated the bus lane on Forster Street this week to provide priority access for buses coming to Eyre Square.

Forster Streets has been down to a single since mid-June when the council decided to expand the pedestrian space on a number of busy city streets to aid in social distancing.

The bus lane on Forster Street reopened on Wednesday, and is also open to cyclists, taxis and emergency vehicles.

“The bus bays are currently being resurfaced in Eyre Square and the re-surfacing of the Taxi stands on the Northern End of Eyre Square will follow, as part of the GCCMT Implementation Plan, with funding from the National Transport Authority,” the city council said.
