Roadworks in Ballygar expected to last three months will get underway on Monday.

Galway county council is carrying out roadworks on the N63 to improve safety at the crossroads of the Main street, Killeroran Rd and Lower Main St.

The N63 Ballygar Safety Scheme is expected to take until mid-June to complete works.

Work that will be taking place includes planing out parts of the existing road, putting down overlay and applying wearing course, drainage and footpath works, as well as applying road markings and installing reflective studs.

The county council awarded the contract for the roadworks to Tuam based company John Madden & Sons.
