Artisan, micro and small food businesses have been encouraged to avail of the €5 million LEADER Food Initiative.

Galway Rural Development (GRD) and Forum Connemara joined with Ministers Humphreys McConalogue, and Hackett in those in the county to apply for the initiative.

Commenting on the call for applications, Steve Dolan, CEO of GRD, said that GRD and their colleagues in Forum stand ready to assist artisan, micro and small food enterprises who wish to invest in their businesses at this important time as our economy emerges from the twin challenges of Brexit and COVID19.

CEO of Forum Karen Mannion added that with a revised rate of aid of 75%, the LEADER Food initiative offers attractive support to food enterprises wishing to take the next step.

“With the range of supports available, including funding up to €200,000, the initiative can be a real catalyst for food enterprises,” said Karen.

Earlier this year, Minister Heather Humphreys singled out County Galway for praise for its very impressive record in administering LEADER grants.

Those interested in the new LEADER Food Initiative in Galway and are urged to make contact with Galway Rural Development or Forum Connemara.
