Slippery conditions cause multiple crashes on Galway motorways

Multiple crashes have been reported on Galway’s motorways today due to the weather, with gardaí urging motorists to drive carefully.

Three separate crashes have taken place on the M6 this afternoon, and another has been reported on the M18.

One crash on the M6 was at J18 eastbound at Rathmorrisey, while the other two were both between J16 Loughrea and J15 Ballinasloe West, one on each side of the motorway.

Another incident took place on the M18 southbound between J18 Rathmorrissey and J17 Kilternan.

This has also been removed to the hard shoulder, but traffic is moving slowly.

These have been all been moved over to the hard shoulder and traffic is moving.

Each of this incidents involved a single vehicle and fortunately there haven’t been any serious injuries reported.

Gardaí are urging motorists to drive slowly on the motorways after heavy showers of hail this afternoon have left roads treacherous.
