Searches end after body of missing Clifden man found

Searches have ended after the body Cathal Whelan who was reported missing in Clifden last week has been found.

The 23 year old man from Leitrim was reported missing from Clifden, where he lived and worked, after last being seen on the night of Tuesday, October 15.

Searches have been taking place since then, but those ended after his body was recovered yesterday evening shortly after 5pm in the Owenglen River.

A post-mortem examination will now take place.

Gardaí thanked the public for their assistance in this matter.
