Parents and guardians of school children have been urged to ensure that they apply for school transport for next year before the deadline in April.
New applications for the School Transport Scheme for the 2022/23 school year opened recently, and they must be made by Friday, 29 April.
This applies only to new applicants seeking primary and/or post-primary school transport for the new school year.
New applicants include students starting school in September 2022, students moving school, including those moving from primary to secondary school, and students who have or will move address before the new school year.
Galway East TD Seán Canney urged parents and guardians to apply in good time, as “missing this deadline may mean no seat will be available, even for students deemed eligible based on distance from the nearest school.”
