Overnight water restrictions have been imposed in part of North Connemara amid high demand and quality issues.

Nightly water restrictions are in place in Tully from 11pm each night until 7am the following monrning.

Uisce Eireann has said that the restrictions have been imposed due to a combination of factors including the poor raw water quality entering the plant and the continued high demand for water.

Uisce Éireann’s Eoin Hughes said, “These restrictions allow reservoir levels to recover overnight and maintain a consistent supply of drinking water for customers during the day.”

“I continue to call on people in Galway to play their part in ensuring there is enough water for everyone as we go through the summer.”

“It is important that we all consider our water usage and look at simple yet impactful ways to conserve water,” he added.

“It can sometimes be difficult to know where to start, but even small changes can make a significant difference, for example, turning off the hose, avoiding power washing and checking for leaks on outdoor taps.”

Water levels are being reviewed daily and updates provided to the community as necessary.
