Galway Daily news N67 realignment to begin shortly

Work on the N67 Realignment scheme between Foy’s Hill and Toureen is expected to commence withing a few short weeks.

Fox Civil Engineering were issued with a Letter of Acceptance for the N67 realignment work last week Councillor Joe Byrne said.

Under the terms of their contract work was to commence within four weeks the county councillor added.

Councillor Byrne welcomed the news that locals would soon have a safe new carriageway with a walking and cycling path.

The Loughrea District Cllr said that continuing on from this project, the next work undertaken in the area should be a path for pedestrians and cyclists on the grassed margin between Ballinderreen and Kilcolgan.

“I must thank all the landowners, TII, Minister Cannon and Galway County Council and indeed the local community who have called for this project for 40 years, for ensuring this is at last happening,” Joe Byrne said.

“So motorists, prepare for some short term delays for long term gain and while works are being done let’s hope “rat runs” don’t develop on our local roads.”
