N63 reopens after road traffic accident

The N63 outside Abbeyknockmoy has reopened this evening after a road traffic accident where a truck overturned on the road this morning.

The road was shut for several hours after a traffic accident where a truck overturned on the Moylough side of Abbeyknockmoy near the Tuam turn off.

Gardaí were able to clear the scene after the incident took place around 7:30am this morning, but the road then had to be closed for several hours due to difficulties in removing the truck.

The County Council said that work also had to be done to stabilise an embankment which was damaged in the incident.

The driver of the truck was taken to hospital as a precaution, but no-one was reported to be seriously injured.
